I’m so glad you came into my life, unexpectedly, in a time of need. You help me keep moving and keep off the couch. You warm my feet when they are cold and pester me when I’m feeling old. You are so happy and full of energy, creating joy for all you are around. With ears, four legs, and a tail you have made it possible for me to not worry about the future and enjoy the here and now. You helped me go from a dark point to a bright one. You showed me a way to connect and not feel small through your love for all.

It’s a cool night as I sit on my porch. I see you on the lawn wondering around. Ambling this way and that. As I watch I realize you are searching. Searching for food. With your nose to the ground, you create a beautiful foraging dance. Your movements are slow…

O’glorous sleep. You call to me but rarely come. You make me crave your peaceful embrace. Why do you continue to elude me? I feel you calling me in my tired bones and burning eyes. My body aches for your warm embrace. Why do you elude me? Why do you stay away? Don’t you know I need you so? If only you would come and wash over me with your sleep touch. Yet you continue to tease me almost every night. Letting me get close to you then pulling away. I’m begging you — come to me on this night. Oh, how I wish for you to alleviate my exhaustion with sweet dreams until the morning light.

Adulting is difficult, that is true. Harder yet on the parents of you. We see you struggle and want to help However, in the end it is no help. You fight us, hate us, tell us we are wrong. We love you so much, and we hope you will understand. We come from love, experience, and time To offer support, advice, and yes, even money at times. Your need to Adult is difficult on us all.
